walk and talk therapy in leicester and leicestershire

walk and talk therapy for adults 16+

I’m Faidra, a Level 7 qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering Walk and Talk Therapy for adults aged 16 and over across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Walk and Talk Therapy offers the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences while walking outdoors in a natural environment. For some people, being outside and moving at a comfortable pace can feel less formal than sitting in a therapy room and may help conversations flow more naturally.

Sessions provide the same professional, confidential and therapeutic support as traditional counselling, while allowing you to benefit from being outdoors.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, life changes or personal challenges, Walk and Talk Therapy can provide a supportive space to explore what is important to you.

WHAT IS WALK AND TALK THERAPY?

Walk and Talk Therapy is a form of counselling that takes place outdoors while walking together in an agreed location. The focus remains on you and the issues you wish to bring to therapy, just as it would in a traditional counselling setting.

Some clients find that walking side-by-side feels more comfortable than sitting face-to-face. Others appreciate the sense of space, movement and connection with nature that outdoor therapy can offer.

There is no expectation regarding fitness levels. Sessions take place at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and routes are chosen with your needs and abilities in mind.

Before We Begin

Before arranging a Walk and Talk Therapy session, we will have a free 20-minute telephone or video consultation.

This initial conversation allows us to discuss your needs, explore whether Walk and Talk Therapy is suitable for you and complete the necessary assessment and paperwork. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the process.

As part of this discussion, we will consider:

  • Any health conditions or mobility needs
  • Allergies or environmental sensitivities
  • Accessibility requirements
  • Emergency contact information
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Weather considerations
  • Personal safety and wellbeing
  • Confidentiality in outdoor settings

Together, we will agree how sessions will work and ensure that Walk and Talk Therapy is an appropriate and safe option for you.

Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy

People choose Walk and Talk Therapy for a variety of reasons.

Some potential benefits include:

  • A less formal counselling environment
  • The opportunity to be outdoors in nature
  • Reduced pressure from direct eye contact
  • Gentle movement while talking
  • A greater sense of space and freedom
  • Time away from everyday distractions
  • An alternative to traditional room-based therapy

Every person's experience is different, and what feels helpful will vary from one individual to another.

Locations

Walk and Talk Therapy is available across Leicester and Leicestershire in carefully selected outdoor locations. Locations are agreed in advance based on accessibility, comfort, privacy, safety and suitability for therapeutic work.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND PRIVACY

Confidentiality is an important part of counselling, including Walk and Talk Therapy.

While outdoor settings cannot guarantee the same level of privacy as a counselling room, steps are taken to protect your confidentiality as far as possible.

During our initial consultation, we will discuss how confidentiality is managed outdoors and agree how we will respond if we encounter other people during a session.

This helps ensure that you feel informed, comfortable and supported before beginning therapy outdoors.

IS WALK AND TALK THERAPY RIGHT FOR ME?

Walk and Talk Therapy may suit you if you:

  • Enjoy spending time outdoors
  • Feel more comfortable talking while moving
  • Find traditional therapy settings difficult
  • Would like a different therapeutic experience
  • Appreciate the benefits of being in nature

However, it may not be suitable for everyone. During our initial consultation, we can discuss your needs and consider whether Walk and Talk Therapy or another form of counselling would be the most appropriate approach for you.
